Heart Attack

Mid forties, divorced, looking forward to a night out.
It was 8.15 on a Friday evening, as I ran the razor over a light stubble.
I smiled as I looked at my reflection gazing back at me.

My right shoulder felt tired, so I swopped the razor into my left hand.
The tiredness became an ache. I thought of the ceilings I had painted earlier. The aching grew into pain. "Must have pulled a muscle".As I opened the aftershave,I felt a queasiness deep in my stomach. The pain had spread down my right arm, bad now. A sweat broke out over my body.

Years of martial arts and meditation kicked in. There was no emotion.
I just knew I was going to be dangerously ill.I hadnt much time.

I made it to the front door and opened it slightly. As I floated to the bedroom, I was in a sea of pain and nausea. The pain comforted me, it was real. Sinking onto the bed, I gasped a few words into the cellphone. Survival mode, dont waste an ounce.
I drifted into a deep meditation, dropping my heartrate, and detaching from the material. A gentle hand beckoned me..............take action

I'd like you to watch the most important two minutes you'll ever see - 'Watch your own heart attack'.

Take the time to watch it - then you'll be prepared if and when it happens for real.

Watching this film could help save the life you love: go to http://www.bhf.org.uk/2minutes

Did you know that 94 Fathers die from a heart attack every day?

On Sunday 10th August millions of people across the UK tuned in to watch their own heart attack. Jeremy Kyle watched for his mum. Chris Tarrant watched for his dad. Who will you watch for?

Many people are unaware they are actually having a heart attack because they don't know the symptoms. The British Heart Foundation's two minute film allows you to experience what it's like to have a heart attack. Take the time to watch it – then you'll be prepared if and when it happens for real.

Visit bhf.org.uk/2minutes. It could save your life. Or the life of someone you love.

Please also forward this email to people you know – together we can save the life you love.

Yours sincerely,

British Heart Foundation.

Our film illustrates just some of the symptoms someone may experience when having a heart attack. It's important to remember that the symptoms of a heart attack can vary from one person to another they can be mild, severe, or somewhere in between. No two heart attacks are the same. Symptoms can range from a severe pain in the centre of the chest, to having mild chest discomfort that makes you feel generally unwell. In many cases, chest pain or tightness are accompanied by a range of other symptoms.

Common, or typical symptoms include:
  • Central chest pain
  • The pain can spread to the arms, neck or jaw
  • Feeling sick or sweaty as well as having central chest pain
  • Feeling short of breath as well as having central chest pain.
Symptoms vary and some people may feel any of the following:
  • A dull pain, ache, or 'heavy' feeling in the chest
  • A mild discomfort in the chest that makes you feel generally unwell
  • The pain in the chest can spread to the back or stomach
  • A chest pain that feels like a bad episode of indigestion
  • Feeling a bit light-headed or dizzy as well as having chest pain.
If you, or anyone around you, experience any of these symptoms, don't ignore them. Call 999 immediately. The longer you wait for medical assistance, the lower your chance of survival.
Find out more about heart attack symptoms on the main BHF website.
