The bond between human and animal is a unique one. Society does not yet accept the
pain and trauma endured by many in silence. It is something not often spoken about.
As if it was something shameful.
When a longterm companion pet dies, the owner goes through a grieving process. It is
every bit as deep and distressing as the death of a fellow human.
Many view animals as inferior, soulless beings. With such an opinion they cannot understand what all the fuss is about.
"its only a dog..."  Please, never say the likes to a grieving petowner.
The loss they are feeling is of a child, a friend, a companion, of one
who gave all, and expected nothing in return. The attachment will never be completely erased.
When a pet departs, and only grief is left. I know you will feel alone with your pain,
but you are not. There are many like you, who have
opened their hearts, and accepted the unconditional love offered by these
special beings. Some day society may have evolved enough, to accept that
love comes in many forms, and to be separated from it is always painful.

Where did you learn to meditate?

Ive had many teachers.

One that springs to mind is "Cheeky". He was 20 years young,

and one of his back legs didnt work anymore.

Every morning I would climb the steep hill behind the house

I carried about 70lb weight on my back. I was very fit, but

Cheeky set the pace. His three little legs driven by love and

pride.

At the summit we would sit, rain or shine. I remember looking

at him with admiration as we sat there. His eyes fixed on the

horizon, a picture of peace and serenity.

He was nearly blind, but he could see forever.

As I learned to see with his eyes, and feel with his heart,

I grew.

I was in the presence of a Master.
